GQ: Clean or Rugged

Posted in Everything Else by kingjeorge on November 26th, 2008

GQ is a must! Here are two of my favorite columns in the last couple of issues that GQ has put out. The styling is on point, the photography is exceptional and the topics are just completely superb.
November 08’s shows Actor Scott Speedman shows how men up north weather the cold with rugged, elegant style. Photographs by Carter Smith
December 08 helps us buy a tuxedo. That’s right, buy. Because unless you’re rolling in a white stretch limo to the prom, renting should no longer be an option. Brandon Flowers of The Killers wades his way through a sea of formalwear options so you’ll know exactly what to invest in.

This Adidas Party is safe for work

Posted in Everything Else, Fashion by kingjeorge on November 26th, 2008

Adidas’ new Celebrate Originality campaign is very well suited for THISPARTYISNSFW due to the fact that they’re pushing the limits and are really trying to reach out to the young adults/ teenagers in the market by using the “House Party” campaign. Sounds fun? How about tossing in musicians and celebrities in the mix, a huge house party, and the illest song on the planet(check Macaframa movie) Now that’s a recipe for successful a campaign. Go on and cop your own Shell-Toe’s.

Scot Mescudi

a.k.a. Kid Cudi is one of my favorite artist right now, he’s on the rise. Next to Ratatat(hw music*) he’s the second most played artist in my iTunes. His free mixtape(after the jump…) is sponsored by streetwear brand 10Deep and is produced by Dj Plain Pat, who has worked with Kanye West in the Graduation mixtape. After hearing the Man on The Moon mixtape, Kanye signed the cleveland rapper, now staying in Brooklyn , NY to his music label G.O.O.D. Music. Kid Cudi’s album “Man on The Moon: The Guardian” is due in 2009. Give him a listen…

There’s Light.

Posted in Everything Else by kingjeorge on November 23rd, 2008

Here are some photographers that keep fascinating me. I don’t know how they do it, but i think its the stuff they shoot, that makes me feel like i was there with them in that very same spot where they took the picture. These people shoot very different stuff and have their own unique style, but what does it for me is the control of lighting in their photos. Great Job!

MGMT x Chemical Brothers

Posted in Music by kingjeorge on November 23rd, 2008

Good things come in pairs. Peanut Butter & Jelly, Tim & Eric, Spaghetti & Meatballs, T-Pain & Lil Wayne, and Mariah Carey & Nick Canon. Maybe not Mariah & Nick, but MGMT, the hippest band of 2008 is due for a second album and the producers are gonna be none other than The Chemical Brothers. This concoction should be interesting, let’s keep an eye out.

Cool In A Way We Can’t Be

Posted in Art, Fashion, Links by Christopher U. on November 14th, 2008

This photograph of Goldie, courtesy of Blanka, does nothing but make me wish I were born in a different era so that by a twist of fate, our paths could cross. Gimme “Rapture” Blondie and I think I’d never need another woman. She’s cool in a way I wish every other girl was.

This winter season it seems like we’re gonna be seeing a lot of “Outdoors/Workwear” inspired pieces from our favorite designers. Companies like Band of Outsiders, Filson, Woolrich, Huf & Dr. Romanelli, Stansfield, Come de Garcon, Ransom, Clarks, and the return of Red Wing Boots are all getting in the very comfortable and warm swing.

Creative In A Way We Can’t Be

Posted in Art, Art Misc., Design, Technology by Christopher U. on November 9th, 2008

Klein Dytham architecture (KDa) is a multi-disciplinary design practice active in the design of architecture, interiors, and public spaces and installations. Established by Royal College of Art graduates Mark Dytham and Astrid Klein in Tokyo at the dawn of the 90s, KDa is today a multi-lingual office with an increasingly visible international profile and client list.”

There just aren’t enough businesses and property-owners utilizing the creativity this world has to offer. People like the designers and creative minds at KDa really add flare to our surroundings and I’m especially impressed by the impact they’re able to make in a place like Japan. We all know Japan is in the future and for KDa to be able to infuse their style and touch into the landscape is quite a feat.

Nobody’s Sweetheart is a showcase for the work of who I can only refer to as “Dyna Moe” [according to her name on Flickr], and clicking that link will bring you to a portfolio chock-full of delicious Illustrator-based vector graphics that find their inspiration rooted somewhere between modern new media and 1960’s-era illustration.

O Futuro: Sirah

Sirah The Gnome

So, what exactly are you looking at? The future of hip-hop. No, not the dude lampin’ on the log with the pointy hat but the cute white chick emerging from that log. Sirah has been featured in URB magazine, just got off Warped Tour and is currently touring (yet again) with MC Chris. At the age of 21, that’s not a bad resume. Her mind-boggling lyrics; rapid-fire, free(ish)-form delivery; and resin-thick NY accent makes her the perfect candidate for your new favorite rhyme-slayer.
